Tastes Just Like Back Home

One word of advice when on the search of good things.......Follow the crowd. For the last two days I've been exploring my neighborhood on my stay at home vacation( staycation as some of you call it) and I've been on the hunt for anything that makes my stomach smile.
Yesterday evening I entered Singhs Roti Shop with my mother on Liberty. While walkin by I heard my favorite soca music artist Denise Belfon blasting through the radio and felt obliged to enter this roti shop. As I entered I noticed the bar full of laughing West Indians and all the tables full.
I made my way to the cafeteria style counter and this is what I saw.

I know what was going through my head how about you? Not only was there the option for a good lunch but also vast options of little treats for desert. I eventually ordered roti with curry chicken and my mother good ol macaroni pie with chinese style chicken ( yes there were different styles of food that this West Indian place offered) and sat amongst the excitement.
The food was simply amazing and the atmosphere was not very relaxing but more exciting. I was able to hear good soca music. I would usually have to wait for Sunday night to come and 107.5 to play the latest soca and old school jams.

Liberty on Liberty (Feels Just Like Home)

This morning I walked through the streets of Richmond Hill straight down liberty and I just felt like I was back home in Trinidad. The amount of homestyle cooking was amazing. My nose couldn't figure out which way to turn. (My eyes and belly sure did figure it out though)
Trinidad might have the doubles man on the corner but in Richmond Hill the doubles man had a store front. How could I not stop inside a place with a line coming through the door and the awning saying D' Original Doubles Man. I mean all arrows pointed to this place.
Once inside this small comfy restaurant I realized the vibrant colors of orange and green. Awkward but gave off a surprisingly homey happy feel. I then looked behind the glass and could not believe they offered the same breakfast I could find back home.
If you thought bake anf shark was just to be eaten on the beach under the hot sun on a lucky Saturday morning then your dead wrong. D' Original Doubles Man offered this along with doubles for breakfast. I had to indulge myself. After eating this meal I just wanted to lay back on these green seats, open my belt buckle, and rest myself. Unfortunately in this full place they might have looked at me funny.
People should definitely visit D' Original Doubles Man on 129-09 Liberty Avenue. Mark my word, YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT.
